Masooma Hassan

Masooma Hassan is an independent researcher and a Consultant at The Law and Policy Chambers. She holds a Masters in Environmental Policy and Planning from the School of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Michigan. He area of expertise is Environmental Policy and Planning.

Masooma received her earlier training as laboratory-based botany and possesses more than 15 years of practical experience. At present, she works in close collaboration with Dr. Qamar uz Zaman Chaudhary, Special Advisor to the Secretary General of World Meteorological Organization. Masooma has provided consulting services on projects related to broader issue areas of water management, agriculture, climate change, vulnerable ecosystems and disaster preparation.

Her leading project have included a Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Review (CPEIR- Phase II) which she conducted for UNDP/LEAD Pakistan; a Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Project conducted for UNEP/GEF/ Federal Ministry of Climate Change; a Coastal Erosion Management Plan which she prepared for IUCN, Pakistan and a Climate Change Profile of Pakistan which she prepared for ADB.

In addition to being a committed environmentalist, Masooma is and engaged citizen and contributes actively to defending civil and economic rights of marginalized communities. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and is also a Director at the Hazara Resource Center (HRC).
